Located in the capital of the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, RGIA was also rated second most service-oriented airport in the 5-15 million passengers per annum airports, category as it completes its first year of commercial operations on March 23, 2009.

The GMR Group-promoted airport made its way to the top 10 out of 126 international airports that were a part of the global survey. Announced by the Airport Council International (ACI) – the Apex Body of Global Airports – the rating was given in a global survey undertaken as part of the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) 2008 results. The results were compiled after an extensive survey on the various services provided at the airports which facilitate passenger convenience.

PS Nair, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) says that they have launched the implementation of an Integrated Management System (IMS) comprising quality, environment and safety management systems across operations to facilitate service quality further.

A Viswanath, CCO of GHIAL, adds, “We are continuing a number of initiatives that will further enhance passenger experience at our airport, even as we enter our second year of operations. Till date we have opened 100 retail outlets including food and beverages, and conveniences like a spa, to suit various price points and cater to different classes of passengers who go through the airport every day.”

The airport has 13 business class lounges with services that include business center, baggage hold, limousine service, gymnasium, shower, napping areas and massage services. There are three VIP lounges located at departure, arrival and at remote gates on the ground level. International brands like HMS Host, Blue Foods Private Limited, Cafe Coffee Day, Hard Rock Cafe, Cookie Man serves the passengers at the airport.
