The work involves an additional 2,000 square feet for new medical spaces like surgical suites, a sterile supply room and two non-sterile equipment rooms. It will add four recovery bays and two outpatient same-day surgery rooms. The existing nourishment stations and pre-admission reception area will also be renovated as a part of the project.

Beth Horton, the chief nursing officer, stated that the additional space in the surgical services department will support the physicians and the community. The additional surgical suites will accommodate current and new surgeons, as well as schedule more surgeries simultaneously.

The project is expected to reach completion by the first quarter of 2010.
