There were complaints in 2008 over the stadium grandstand, on the main straight along Mill Street, causing poor and blocked views. However, event director Steve Vuleta says that the officials have fixed the problem this year, using specially imported trusses that are expected to arrive this week.

The seats in the first row of the stadium will be 10 meters off the ground, compared to six meters last year. Below the front of the stand, two levels of corporate boxes have been set up, the angle of which are steeper than that of last year’s stadium.

Besides these changes, the previous two-storied Premier Villa at the end of the main straight has been converted into single level, in order to offer a clearer view from the stadium grandstand.

The event, the only New Zealand date in the Australian V8 series, will take place on April 17-19.
