Interserve has been chosen by the Ministry of Justice for HMYOI Cookham Wood project in Rochester, UK. The company will develop a new three-storey houseblock to house remand and convicted juveniles, along side an education facility at HMYOI Cookham Wood, part of the Rochester cluster of prisons. The project is being built on land adjoining the existing prison.

Scope of work involves construction of a new houseblock, which will consist of 179 single cells. The new houseblock will replace existing substandard accommodation. Upon completion of work, the existing facility will be mothballed.

Interserve will also develop a new two-storey regime building, which will house the prison’s main library, as well as 15 classrooms and workshops for providing skills education and training. The other work as a part of the project involves building of three new fenced exercise yards, access roads and new security fencing.
