The Japanese ministry is considering the possibility of using LED lights and LED-related technology in farming and organized the demonstration project for the benefit of the local public and government officials.

Seoul Semiconductors supplied its Z-Power LED products to an unnamed company which is a major participant in the project, in order to produce LED lighting fixture samples. The LED lights emit red and blue lights, acting as the artificial light source that helps in the growth of plants.

Officials hope that the use of artificial light source will improve the quality and quantity of plants without the influence of chemicals and the weather, leading to greater productivity and higher incomes for farming families.

In the past, incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps and sodium lamps were used as external sources of farming technology, but eco-friendly LED lights, which are highly efficient and have a longer lifespan without carbon discharge, are now becoming popular.
