Designed by Dattner Architects and Grimshaw, the Via Verde scheme is located in the Melrose neighborhood and sprawls over a 1.5 acres site. The scheme offers 222 residential units, which are a mix of simplexes, duplex units, and live-work units with a first floor work space.
The development has a unique staggered design pattern created by means of interconnected low-rise town homes, a mid-rise duplex building, and a 20-storey tower. All the buildings have green rooftops, which allows rain water harvesting and also offers space for the residents to grow fruits and vegetables.
The project has used Bright Power’s energy-saving innovations, which includes a building-integrated solar electric system, and high-efficiency heating, ventilation and lighting systems. All the units have green interior finishes. The project also has a 66-kW integrated photovoltaic system, which along with energy-efficient features, cuts back energy consumption by almost 30%.
The amenities for the residents include open air courtyards, a health education and wellness centre, health oriented retail space, a fitness centre, and bicycle storage areas. The project is being touted for LEED Gold certification.
