Appointed by India’s Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces – the operators of the Pierre – JPA was commissioned to create concepts for nine unique grand suites and themed suites, together with deluxe guestrooms, covering more than 60 different configurations.

A part of the $100 million renovation of the facility, each room is infused with subtle references to the heritage of Taj Hotels, the Indian custodian of the Pierre. Inspired by the jewels of the Maharajas, the interior features soft colour palettes complemented by soft furnishings of rich silks and brocades. Abstracted into decorative motifs, the traditional patterns reinforce the theme in a delicate, understated manner while the high ceilings of the rooms, add on to the abundance of natural light.

David Edwards, project director at JPA, was reported stating that combining fine furniture, rare veneers and inlays, opulent fabrics, and hand-woven carpets with original architectural detail, the design evokes the past of the building while offering guests the comfort of a state-of-the-art luxury hotel.

The renovation took 24 months to reach completion.
