The new MRI facility spreads over an area of 14,300 square feet and hosts the Hitachi Oasis Open MRI, as well as a slightly less powerful Hitachi Echelon MRI machines.

Oasis at the Neurological Associates is designed to host powerful MRI machines and outside windows to make patients comfortable. The firm also created a floor-to-ceiling photograph of a woodland scene for the Echelon exam space featuring a backlight. The structure prevents rays from moving outside the room, keeping patients and staff in the office and other tenants in the building safe from RF emissions from the MRI devices and also from any electrical influence.

Thicker walls with steel-plate shielding prevents the rays from seeping outside. The magnets of the machines are then aligned so that it is not affected by the interference. Aluminum beams were provided to support the machine, which needed approval of the local building officials. Doctors’ offices and examination rooms and a physical therapy space are also integrated in the center.

The waiting area for the visitors is decorated in tone-on-tone sandstone vinyl wall coverings, which features all through the hospital interiors. It also features a large reception desk with blond wood which curves round and leads to the business area.

Additional offices line the corridor that leads to the MRI and physical therapy areas. Paintings from artists like Jasper Johns, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollack, Piet Mondrian and others adorn the space exhibiting soft and mute colors.
