The FW Observatory is located at the foot of Mt. Takao, in Osaka. The observatory functions as a storage as well as a relaxation space. It has a total area of 93 square metre, built over a 363 square metre site.

The scheme has been designed taking into consideration the steep slope of the site and its week soil bearing capacity. The designer has designed the building in a way that its exterior form and the structural system is both economic and rational.

The observatory has a pile that resists to the ground sliding and drive the wedge shaped base, such as biting on the slopes. The area serves as a storage space for farming equipment and machine. The upper floors of the building accommodate a rest area, marked by the sloping corridor. The rest area is contiguous to the observatory space, which offers sweeping views of the countryside.

Inside, the space is comfortable and airy and is filled with sunshine that filters through foliage. The building is shaped like a shell with its structure composed of polygons, which makes it water resistant.
