KB Home received the award for its 2550 model home’s innovative floor plan design and spaciousness. The winning home is from The Open Series, KB Home’s new generation of flexible and energy-efficient home designs that are affordably priced to compete with resale and foreclosure homes.
The winning floor plan includes three bedrooms, two and a half baths and a two-car garage. The home is designed to maximize living space, both indoors and out, with an open floor plan featuring a great room that leads into a large kitchen.
An optional island is ideal for quick meals, food preparation and extra workspace, while a dining nook can also be added to create an eat-in kitchen. For homeowners who prefer to dine or relax outdoors, the back patio can be extended to create a seamless flow of indoor/outdoor living space.
A downstairs den, adjacent to the great room, can be used in a variety of ways to suit each buyer’s lifestyle, whether it is a home office, media center or craft room. Upstairs, another multiuse space can remain open as a loft or be converted into a fourth bedroom.
According to the 2009 Parade of Homes Industry panel of judges, “The Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando selected KB Home’s 2550 floor plan because of the open plan and spacious feel of the home. The plan is very well designed with little wasted space, allowing it to live and feel like a much larger home.”
George Glance, president of KB Home’s Central Florida division said, “The award-winning model is a perfect example of what the Open Series is all about – offering affordable, energy-efficient and flexible designs that maximize the potential of every square foot of living space in the home.”
All homes from the Open Series are built to exacting Energy Star guidelines, making them among the most energy-efficient new homes available today, allowing buyers to reduce their environmental impact and monthly utility bills for years to come.
A variety of floor plans from The Open Series are now available at a growing number of KB Home communities in Orlando and across the US.
