The new Community Fire Station has been built for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority. It includes a borough command, gym, double drill tower for training, quiet room, sensory garden, and a community room which can be used by partner agencies and other community groups including the ROC (Redeeming Our Communities) Café.

The facility also has a caged soccer facility which will be available for community usage and will be operated by operational staff who are fully trained football coaches.

The facility is among the most sustainable fire stations in the UK and most environmentally sustainable buildings in Bury. It has been accredited with BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification employing various green features, which comprises rainwater flushing for the toilets, photovoltaic and solar panels for electricity and hot water generation system.

To adorn the entrance of the fire station, Bury College is designing a mural. The fire station will also have a new time capsule in a protective cabinet on the wall and a TV screen displaying information about energy savings.
