Designed by Sheppard Robson on innovative school design line, the new schools have a total area of 16,800 square metre. The design of the building meets the requirements of the special education needs (SEN) students and has the capacity to accommodate 1,160 students.

The schools have been built around a central space, which forms a circulation hub that includes a learning resource centre. All the learning spaces within the building are flexible and can be adapted to suit the needs of both students and teachers.

The special needs spaces have been built around a central space, which is spread over two-levels. The new building offers a multitude of facilities, such as a hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, SEN sixth form provision and an independent living training flat.

The building also provides many sports facilities, including a suite of external physical education (PE) and recreational areas such as a sensory garden, a trim trail and a games pitch. Additional features include a minibus drop-off area, which can accommodate 14 buses. The project entailed a capital outlay of £35 million ($56.78 million).
