Scope of the project involved replacement of two mobile classrooms with a bespoke teaching area, which has been designed in congruent with the collaborative teaching style of the school. The renovated 280-seat school has interconnected teaching spaces, which have been arranged in concentric circles.
The inner circle, dubbed as whisper space, offers children the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively. The middle tier, called talk space, features classrooms. The outer most circle, called call space, is likely to be used for more active learning such as drama.
The edges of the classroom are fully glazed, which enables the children to concurrently use all three spaces under the supervision of their teacher.
The other work at the school consisted of the development of outdoor learning that comprises independent learning spaces, an outdoor theatre and an extended wildlife area to develop Forest Schools, a new garden and grass banks to create a natural amphitheatre.
The project was funded by Norfolk County Council by means of its Primary Capital Programme.
