The project, carried out in three phases, has been developed by PCL Constructors. It includes reopening of the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario. Work commenced in July 2008. It has led to the creation of new area spanning 170,000 square feet, and over 143,000 square feet of revamped space. It has also raised the bed capacity of the hospital to about 459. The Intensive Care Unit on the third level has increased its number of beds from 21 to 33. The facility now features a family lounge area and quiet consultation rooms.
The Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario has been expanded from 54,445 to 91,085 square feet as part of the project. It now features a pair of new radiation bunkers, and has raised its number of chemotherapy treatment chairs from 15 to 39. The facility also features a specialized clinic space for pediatric patients. The project further involves expansion and facelift of Central Processing Services of the hospital.
