The new La Cave wine bar, by Chicago-based design and fabrication firm 555 International, is debuted by American casino resort/real-estate developer Steve Wynn and restaurateur Michael Morton.
Designed to resemble its namesake, the 4,000 square feet La Cave features a low, convex, plaster ceiling. 555 International wanted to craft a contemporary space that contrasts a traditional and classic wine bar setting. The space is notable for many intricate design strokes including the custom made metal gate, furniture and arch details. The design team has also been successful in creating a hospitality space that fit the overall aesthetics of a luxury property such as the Wynn.
Guests are greeted by a cave-like revolving door, glass entryway upon entering. The first room named ‘Cave’ features oak, cobble wood floors, ribbon inlay, and low-vaulted plaster ceilings. Reflective tiles and LED lighting make the back bar areas of Cave a vibrant space, and all custom-made seating and table furniture pieces feature brass legs. A large sign hangs over the centre tables made up of red LED lights that reads, ‘In Vino Veritas” (Latin for “In Wine [There Is The] Truth)’.
A prominent eyebrow arched steel metal gate leads to the Main Dining Room. The space features a dark red wall made of burlap on the left side, which is designed to be the focal point. The wall features a large rectangular mirror and flat screen television. The ceilings here are adorned with custom made lanterns and ivory candles that provide muted lighting. Custom made walnut tables and chairs are placed here.
The Garden Room at the wine bar has been designed to resemble a spacious living room, also with burlap walls. The space is distinct for a collage of mismatched seating. Teak ceilings with custom hanging lanterns lend a dramatic effect to this space. The burlap walls open up to the other spaces, and the main wall is lined up with plants resulting in a cool setting.
