Designed by the studio of rising young architect Pernilla Ohrstedt, the ‘atlas’ displays exciting schemes selected by architectural practices, academics and experts and submitted from countries including Nigeria, Turkey and Greece. Through over 60 models, visitors will receive an effective preview of some of most critical, but perhaps lesser-spotted, international developments in urban renewal, new development and building design; not for this show the usual trawl of starchitectural icons.
These unbuilt premonitions will manifest themselves from the 7th to the 27th of June at the Bartlett School of Architecture, as it plays host to a range of events and discussions throughout the festival. In addition, these models of the global near-future will be animated with an unprecedented live 3D printing project, wherein UK and international architects have been invited to submit digital models. These will be printed in real time, allowing visitors to witness live the work of architects, designers and students.
Walking through the exhibition, countries including Norway, Jordan and Indonesia will be represented with 3D models offering a global snapshot of the interesting architectural projects we have to look forward to in the near future.
