The project, which was started in 2006 by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA),
The renovation involves landscaping the area, constructing a children’s park, a 12-15 feet high monument in memory of Liaquat Ali Khan, a mosque, a canteen, fountains, flowerbeds, and huge portraits of national heroes.
Published media reports quoted un-named sources to say that the project was also involved setting up of an international standard restaurant with a tuck shop.
The Daily Times reported that when they asked as to why the renovation work was not completed in three years, a senior RDA official said that other important project plans delayed the renovation. He also said on the condition of anonymity that it would be completed by June 2009.
