One of the three campuses of New York’s Fordham University, Lincoln Center in Manhattan currently serves about 8,500 students. The facility opened in 1961 was originally created to accommodate 3,500 students.

The expansion plans aim to remove congestion in facilities and intends to expand it to accommodate 10,500 students over the next two decades.

Some changes have been made in the plans in order to get council’s approval. The university has agreed to reduce the height and bulk of two largely-residential buildings that will be built to help finance the campus expansion.

A 3,500 square feet, street-level atrium and an elevated landscaped area on the campus will also be made publicly accessible.

Fordham University is spread over three campuses in New York: Rose Hill in The Bronx, Lincoln Center in Manhattan, and Westchester in West Harrison.
