The new school is a single-storey building that has been designed by a joint venture between the city council and 2020 Liverpool and built by Morgan Sindall. The classrooms have been built around three central courtyards. All the three courtyards have direct access to outdoor play areas.
The other facilities at the school consist of a library, art and music rooms, a synthetic area for sports and games, a large community room, a dining hall for the children and a crèche. The school also includes an open space, which can be used for growing vegetables. The playing fields have been laid with a green tarmac artificial grass MUGA pitch.
The building features green roof, which has been planted with vegetation that in addition to provide insulation, also prevent run-off of rainwater. The school also has a heated system, which utilizes ground energy to heat the building.
The sustainable school is set to achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
