The newly renovated 3,800 square feet Monarch Lounge sports a art deco-style bar design, which is spacious and welcoming. It features spacious seating areas, workstations and a media centre.
The project has added a stone and metal fireplace to its south wall, while the northern end has an interactive media work area, complete with touch-screens, iPads, a magazine stand and printer. The furnishings incorporated in Monarch Lounge reflects the elegant history of the hotel.
The project has opened up several large windows on the eastern side of the building that overlook 5th Street and offer views of the Wisconsin Avenue and downtown. Several openings have been created in the old building which overlook the upper and lower lobbies.
The beauty of the renovated lobby is punctuated by the use of rich wood architecture, comfortable leather furniture, and new floor covering and fixtures that resonate with the original style of the 1920s hotel.
The lobby lounge once housed an ornate, 82-foot-long serpentine bar, which was considered among the longest bars in Wisconsin. The new lounge offers a selection of globally popular wines and bar-style, Mediterranean and classic American inspired menu; and signature cocktails.
The Monarch Room renovation scheme forms part of one of the final phases of renovation scheme involving renovation of the hotel’s guestrooms, lobby area, public spaces, and fitness centre among other areas. The renovated hotel will reflect its original grandeur and will feature modern technology to meet the requirements of today’s guests.
