The proposed LSU Medical Education and Innovation Center will be a new four-storey building, which will span over an area of 35,000 square feet. The facility will accommodate innovative lecture and conference rooms, which will be equipped with the latest technology in projection and recording capabilities.
The new centre will also house a state-of-the-art Simulation and Innovation Center for residents and medical students to enable continued learning of new skills and advanced medical techniques. The Simulation Center will focus on patient safety through its enhanced learning environment. The centre will also accommodate research labs and faculty offices.
The new facility is scheduled to open in 2013. The project forms part of the public-private partnership between LSU and OLOL. The new facility will offer education and training to more than 250 medical residents enrolled for the LSU Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs.
