Designed by Baltimore-based Development Design Group Inc, the 450,000 square feet project with the preliminary name of Poplar Creek will feature a design similar to Glendale’s Bayshore Town Center with a street grid and town square. The centre will feature a three-level, 150,000 square feet Von Maur store; 250,000 square feet of additional retail and restaurant space and a potential 100,000 square feet of office space.
Located on a sloping site, the Marcus Corp. project will also feature 1,000-space underground parking area built into the hill with the buildings on top of it. The first level of some of the buildings, including the Von Maur building, will connect with the underground parking area. Escalators in the underground parking area will take shoppers up directly to the town square green space.
The Marcus Corp. project will predominantly feature two-storey buildings with retail space on the first floor and office space on the second floor. It will also have a central town square green space and a road passing through the development up to the buildings with parallel parking spaces.
Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects will be the architect of record for the project. The total cost of the entire project is expected around $125-$130 million. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2011 and complete in early 2012.
