Baltimore County has bought the 93,000 square feet Perring Racquet Club for $3.9 million, to provide space for indoor soccer, lacrosse and tennis. The club houses two fields for soccer or lacrosse, and four tennis courts.

The renovation contract has been awarded to Maryland–based Breand Development. The firm is expected to undertake repairing of artificial turf on one soccer field along with installing a new artificial grass surface on the other field. The fields will be surrounded by a shatter-proof glass board.

The project will be designed in compliance with current building codes. The facility will be designed as handicap-accessible.

The exterior façade of the building will be upgraded, the 6.4-acre ground will be improved and sprinkler and alarm systems will be installed.

The county will reopen the club as Northeast Regional Recreation Center by late 2009.
