The new research facility is schedule to open in 2019 and is poised to be among the largest research facilities in the world. The centre will be designed to add to the visual appeal of the proposed Science Village.

The building will be designed in a way that it integrates with the natural landscape of the area. It will be built with strict compliance with the sustainable development practices, which is likely to make it to become an attractive working place. The design of the new research centre is also expected to be a departure from the usual design patterns of the research centres.

Other shortlisted teams include Bjarke Ingels Group, Foster + Partners, Henning Larsen Architects A/S and Benthem Crouwel/West8. The winning design will be announced in October 2012.
