The new parking garage will be constructed to the north of the existing garage. The facility will be a seven level structure with two levels for rental car retail space and five levels for parking.
A moving sidewalk will be created at the lowest level of the garage in order to link the facility to the terminal.
The Shelby County legislative delegation has assisted the airport in securing funds for the airport. Construction is expected to begin by late 2009 with a slated completion in 24 months time.
TDOT’s Aeronautics Division administers federal and state funding to assist Tennessee airports in location, design, construction and maintenance. The airport is owned and operated by the Memphis – Shelby County Airport Authority.
