Opened on May 18, 2010, the center includes five exam rooms reserved for children aged 17 years and younger, who come for non-life-threatening emergency visits; and three inpatient beds for children aged 15 years and younger, requiring hospital admission for observation or further treatment.
The design was conceived keeping the requirements of family in mind. The center features a child-friendly waiting area. Each in-patient room is furnished with a sleeper-chair, full bathroom and entertainment center to make the hospital stay a comfortable and pleasant experience.
The Pediatric Center was built with a $2.5 million donation from the Meriter Foundation. The Friends of Meriter funded the play area within the center. Meriter is the second largest birthing hospital in the state of Wisconsin.
