Merritt 7, which achieved LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, and incorporating other sustainable strategies, has become the first existing building in the state to achieve the certification.

The green features at Merritt 7 Corporate Park include an Energy Star rating of 97%; water use reduction through conversion to low flow toilets and waterless urinals; 100% purchase of green power; waste reduction program resulting in an 89% recycling rate; car pooling and telecommuting policies; and low environmental impact cleaning equipment policy.

Merritt 7 Corporate Park has also won other green awards such as the 2008 Green Building of the Year award by the Westchester/Fairfield County Chapter of NAIOP; the Southwest Connecticut Summer Energy Savers Award; EPA’s 2008 Green Power Purchasing Award; and EPA’s Energy Star rating.

Owned by Merritt 7 Venture LLC, Merritt 7 Corporate Park is a joint venture between New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS), and Fairfield Investors, Inc.
