Meydan, the builders of the new Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, will develop the project in a joint venture with Malaysian design firm TAK Design Consultants and China-based Zhouji Jiye and Tianjin Farm Group.

The proposed $4 billion, 3,005,641 square meters horse city will be designed to resemble a phoenix bird. According to Teo Ah Khing, the project’s managing director, the design of the scheme is inspired by phoenix bird, which symbolizes prosperity to the Chinese.

The Tianjin Horse City is designed to be a multi-use facility, which will include a racecourse, an equestrian college, feedstuff plant, breeding base, horse hospital, and quarantine center. Five-star to seven-star luxury hotels with a capacity for 3600 guests, a clubhouse with premium and mid-class clubhouses, and commercial offices are also in the plans for the site. Residential and office facilities designed to accommodate 20,000 people will also be created. A recreational and entertainment center is also planned for the scheme.

The project will be carried out in two stages spanning ten years. An equestrian college, horse breeding base, feed plant, and auction market will be constructed between 2010 and 2015. From 2016 to 2020, the focus will be on the construction of a horse racing field.
