Under the terms of the contract, the company will deliver two projects at Airbus Aerospace Park in Filton, Bristol. Scope of work involves renovation and retrofitting of Pegasus House, and partial demolition and refurbishment of Old Filton House and construction of a 25,000 square metre office building.
The five-storey Pegasus House is a Grade 2 listed art-deco office building which was built in 1936, while the Old Filton House is a Grade 2 listed three-storey country house that has been built in mid-18th century.
The renovation of Old Filton Houses is aimed at returning the old facility to its former glory. The works at Old Filton Houses involves substantial structural alterations and installation of new M&E. The company will also improve the thermal efficiency of the building. Work on the scheme is scheduled to commence in May 2012 and is penciled for completion in mid-2013.
The project will deliver a new four-storey office block, which will be characterised by natural ventilation. The office building will have four atria and a roof level plant room, and will offer space for 2,500 staff. The office building will also have changing facilities for up to 600 cyclists, an energy centre, and 900 car parking spaces.
The office building will boast superior thermal efficiency and will be marked by low air permeability. The office block will embrace several sustainable practices which will make it an energy-efficient building.
Construction of the new office space is scheduled to begin in August 2012 and is likely to be completed by the third quarter of 2012. Miller will also build new access route to the campus off the main A38.
