Designed by TRO Jung/Brannen, the $38.3 million new facility incorporates several sustainable elements and practices, which has assisted it to reduce its footprint on the environment. The facility has water-efficient fixtures, which has brought about a saving of 30% in water consumption. The building employs low-emitting paints, and has used low-emitting adhesives and carpet systems, which has aided it in offering superior indoor air quality.
The building is enclosed by landscaped garden, featuring a fountain, native plants, and a reflection pool, which in addition to adding green factor to the facility, also beautifies the place. The use of native plants aids in saving water as well. The builder has also used local stones at the facility that has assisted it to gain additional LEED points.
The five level cancer facility has a total area of 116,778 square feet. The cancer centre also has a three level car park which offers space for 348 passenger vehicles. It was constructed by Brasfield & Gorrie Incorporated. The project began in February 2010 and was completed in October 2011.
