The new building will be located at the Clayton campus, and will feature a concert hall, jazz club and a recording studio. Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music will allow the University to offer world-class music education to students.
The new building’s design will blend elegance and high technology infrastructure to create an advanced facility. A major focus of the design will be the underlying philosophy of the Monash University, of transforming students’ lives through the power of music.
This will be Moshe Safdie’s first building in the southern hemisphere. Work is due to start in 2014.
