The $2.6 million project to revamp the football field includes installation of turf – an artificial surface on the football stadium, renovation of seats and a new running track. Work will start after the track season ends in late April 2010. This will allow a three-month window before football two-a-days starts in August 2010.
There will also be a $1.4 million upgrade to the bleachers, which will allow the stadium to seat 2,000 people. The earlier capacity was 1,500. Track improvements will cost $400,000 and the turf work needs $800,000.
Muleshoe is touring various stadiums and talking to as many companies as possible to do the turf and the track upgrade.
