The facility, covering an area of 93,000 square feet, will construct a second floor following the makeover. This floor will serve as an advanced greenhouse and office area. The design of the greenhouse will offer optimum natural light penetration. The first storey of the facility will house a greenhouse mechanical area and research space while serving a host of other purposes.

The building will be linked with a future life sciences research facility sporting laboratory area. The research building will be connected to the former 4-H building. The eastern half of 4-H will be remodelled as a conference centre. A total of 300,000 square feet of research and office area will be created in the complex post upgrades. Work on the 4-H facility is due for completion by April 2013.

Bulk of the exterior portion of the building will be restored. The facade arches will be restored as building entryways with the carvings inside the arches retained in their original form.

The project will be financed by the Nebraska Nova Development LLC with construction work slated to start by May 2012.
