Named as Bedford House, the residential scheme will be located at the junction with Bensham Lane. To be constructed in two types of specifications, the rents homes will comprise 22 one-bed, 24 two-bed, 15 three-bed and three four-bed apartments. There will be 14 one-bed and 21 two-bed homes for shared ownership accommodation.

Designed with three main elements, the main section of the building will face the London Road and will rise to six storeys. On Bensham Road, it will step down to three storeys to blend in with adjacent properties. Creating an elegant landmark, the glass clad centrepiece will be an eight-storey curved block, which will be situated at the corner of the two roads.

On the London Road, the building will be surrounded by new area of public space with extensive hard landscaping and trees. Balconies, roof terraces and an amenity garden and play area on a deck over the rear car park will provide welcome outside space for the residents.

Higgins Construction has been appointed as contractors to deliver the scheme. Contributing to the on-going regeneration of the town, the residential scheme will start construction on the site in summer 2013.
