The building features a number of terraces offering views over London and natural light fills the double height reception area thanks to the main light well. The overall design makes as much use of the natural daylight as possible while featuring high performance glazing, minimising the effect of solar heat gains.

The whole structure has been designed with sustainability in mind, combining energy-efficient design with the use of renewable energy sources. The building also boasts green roofs, with plants and bird boxes.

In addition, a public sculpture has been commissioned from the artist Yinka Shonibare, whose Nelson’s Ship in the Bottle was on display on the fourth plinth of Trafalgar Square in 2010. Shonibare’s work for Howick Place will be installed in spring 2013.
