The new facility substitutes the original structure which was destroyed by an electrical fire in April 2010. The building incorporates an NHL-size ice surface, a latest ice plant, as well as a new ice resurfacing machine.

The new building features an increased number of dressing rooms. Among the other features of the facility are 400 seats in heated stands along with a spacious gymnasium in the upper level. The centre has also been equipped with a new system. The system makes use of reclaimed energy from the ice cooling process to meet the heating requirements of the facility.

Federal and provincial governments have contributed $3 million for the project while $600,000 has been raised by residents and community groups through the Evangeline Recreation Commission. Insurance provided funds worth nearly $500,000 while the remaining amount came from voluntary donations by other organizations.
