The design brief required a visible building intended to create a vibrant and sustainable heart for Telford’s town centre. A spokesperson for the project team said that Alutec was selected for the project because of its ability to offer proactive design proposals, including some bespoke solutions throughout the pre-contract phase.
The building features a bespoke aluminium soffit and fascia system with an integral roof gutter detail, provided by UK-based aluminium rainwater and eaves drainage solution provider Marley Alutec. Roweaver, a national company dealing with the installation of eaves systems, worked in coordination with the roofing and cladding sub-contractors to ensure that the package of Alutec products are fitted in sequence with the rest of the work on waterproofing and finishing of the building envelope.
Wygar Construction Company Limited is the main contractor for the New Town Park Visitor Centre. The scheme has also achieved the PassivHaus standard for low energy consumption.
