The lighting will be put up on the occasion of “National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week” from April 6-10, 2009.

“Operation Orange” is one of the ways MoDOT reminds motorists to drive safely in highway work zones, as the company heads into another busy highway construction season.

The wind turbine is one of more than 70 buildings and landmarks throughout the state that will be spotted orange to highlight the need to drive safely on the highway where workers are performing maintenance and construction activities.

Launched in 2007, “Operation Orange” is MoDOT’s signature effort to highlight the need for safety in work zones by turning significant landmarks and other buildings orange.
