Incorporating all the aspects of the design in its creation, the new 100,000 square feet office in Manhattan consists of four floors connected by an internal stairway.
Paying much attention to the sustainable elements in its design, the new office building project has focused on energy efficiency, alternative transportation, and indoor environmental quality. Extensive use of LED lighting and provision for natural light significantly decrease the energy consumption with purchases of green power further offsetting the use of fossil fuels.
To provide employees with transportation options, the facility features 40 bicycle racks and lockers, most of which are utilised on a typical business day. For water efficiency, the building has installed low-flow toilets and energy-efficient faucets.
In order to provide a healthy work environment, the design includes access to windows providing daylight and views, low-emitting materials, and the use of green cleaning products. Most of the furniture in the office contain recycled content. The reception area features timber walls, which have been repurposed from the local source Coney Island boardwalk. Implementation of a green housekeeping program is also on the cards to keep the building green.
Construction of the office building was completed in January 2012.
