Built by US-based Suffolk Construction, the BEQ is a Marine Corps Bachelor Housing that is located at Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. The facility has an area of 63,000 square feet and incorporates 200-bed living quarters, associated storage, utilities, parking and anti-terrorism force protection.

Designed by CSO Architects, the building met criterion for LEED Gold certification by embracing several sustainable principles and practices, both in construction as well as operation. The building has a 75kW DC Photovoltaic system which generate green electricity to support the requirements of storage shelters and outdoor entertainment areas.

Approximately 50% of the hot water requirement of the building is met by Solar Hot Water Technologies. The incorporation of the solar panels and solar water heating system, enabled the building to reap 14% annual energy costs saving.

The building has energy-efficient plumbing fixtures and advanced boilers and pumps that brings about energy saving and reduced potable water usage. The facility also has UV disinfecting lights for all fan coil units that optimizes heating and cooling. These elements has enabled BEQ to exceed the EPACT 2005 Compliance requirements.
