Voted in RIBA’s Construction for Seduction poll, the Baths received 41% of votes, beating 13 other nominated structures including the London Eye, the British Museum and the Eden Project in Cornwall.
A site of historical interest in the city of Bath, the Roman Baths complex is a well-preserved Roman site for public bathing. Below the modern street level, they have four main features – the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, the Roman Bath House and the museum holding finds from the Bath.
Warwick Castle was runner up with 11% votes, and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton was the second runner up with 9%.
Jon Watkins, head of RIBA South West, was reported saying that over 40% of pollsters voted for the Roman Baths as the most romantic place for a date.
