The popular Le Café for students and staff at Blackpool & Fylde College was completely refurbished with the most modern equipment, including the new Meridian Envirobin for recycling.
Pamela Reynolds, sustainability officer at the college said that the bin was chosen as it complemented the college’s existing colour scheme, was smart, and was available in a recycled plastic. She further added that the facility has already achieved a 6% recycling rate increase, and is targeting to increase recycling by 10% by 2014.
Meridian Envirobin has been designed to make recycling easier by separating mixed recyclables and non-recyclable waste at source. This is achieved by collecting waste in two individual streams using an adaptable lid which is available as standard in a 70/30 split.
Intended for internal use, the stylish Meridian Envirobin is small in size and offers 110 litre capacity. Featuring a flat back, it can be located flush against a wall. Two bins can also be clipped together back-to-back if needed.
The recycle bin features interchangeable lids, and is available as a complete lid, a 50/50 split or a 70/30 split, moulded in WRAP compliant colours and designed to lock together to enable easy removal in one piece. Integrated WRAP signage will also assist the user in selecting the appropriate waste stream and thereby reduce cross contamination.
