Under the terms of the contract from Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Fire Authority, the consortium will build and maintain fire stations in Burton upon Trent, Longton, Lichfield, Leek, Rugeley, Stone, Chase Terrace, Loggerheads, Penkridge, Codsall and Kinver.
The new fire stations will have state-of-the-art operational design and include community facilities. They will include fitness facilities that can be used by supervised groups.
The new facilities will feature an inviting and welcoming design that will allow scope for undertaking more community safety activities. The community facilities of the new stations will be accessible by the entire community.
Construction on the scheme is scheduled to begin in early 2013. The entire project is slated for completion by the end of 2015. Once complete, Kier will maintain the community fire stations over a 25-year concession period.
