Library trustee chairman, Susan Daley, said that only $470,000 will be asked from taxpayers next month for the designs of a proposed library in east village. Earlier, the trustees planned to ask taxpayers at the May town meeting for $3 million, which would fund both design and construction of the library.

As a $2.7 million grant from the State would expire in December, the trustees wanted to hasten the process and ask for the whole amount in one meeting. However, their talks with the town officials made them wait for the September meeting to request for another $2.5 million.

The entire project costs around $6 million and the library would be designed in accordance with the historic character of the east village.
