Buensalido+Architects designed the interiors of this 30-year old shoe retail store. The owners wished to create a contemporary image for the store to recapture its market. Efforts were made to retain its original form and structure, while adding a new look to it.
The real challenge for the designer was to find a balance between retaining some of its characteristics and infusing them with newer, more contemporary forms. The design possessed characteristics of movement to signify the term ‘via’ which stands for a path or roadway. This feeling was represented by a series of undulating arches that looms over as one enters the store. These arches are interconnected with beams, forming a diamond shaped faceted web.
