The project, the total cost of which is estimated at $1,554,619, will be carried out due to a government investment of $1,036,412. The governments of Quebec and Canada will each contribute $518,206 toward the work, with the City of Victoriaville assuming the remaining third, or $518,207, of the project’s costs.

The project involves the reconstruction of the baseball diamond (Poly 2) ceded to the City by the Commission scolaire des Bois-Francs, and the installation a new lighting system for the adjacent soccer field (Poly 1). Both fields are located at the intersection of Jutras Est and Labbé Boulevards in Victoriaville.

The work involves installing a new playing surface, building tiered seating for about 275 people, a 16-feet player shelter partially dug into the ground as well as a service pavilion including locker rooms, shower rooms and washrooms. The City expects that, once the work is complete, non-school players will account for about 60% of field use.

The governments of Canada and Quebec signed an agreement to accelerate the execution of recreational infrastructure projects in Quebec over the next two years. To that end, the Government of Canada will invest $76 million and the Government of Quebec at least that amount in recreational infrastructure projects carried out in cost-sharing partnership with municipal administrations or local organizations.
