Connection draws reference from the city’s dense urban fabric and hidden corridors and invites visitors to discover the colours and textures that are found throughout neighbourhoods.
The lounge features more than 170 architectural miniatures suspended in mid-air, a reflection of the abundant buildings lining the streets of Hong Kong. All the miniature hanging modules showcase vivid images of the metropolis landscape and public spaces. The overhead timber framework symbolises the intertwined grids of the streets and was obtained from sustainable sources.
The 23-metre long wooden structure offers visitors an imagined view from beneath a rich network of interconnected environments – the bridges, courtyards, tunnels and walkways that are an intrinsic part of daily life in the city.
Art Basel is a modern art festival that began in Basel, Switzerland in 1907, expanded to Miami in 2002 and debuted in Asia this year. More than 2,000 artists, ranging from young emerging artists to Modern masters from both Asia and the West, were represented in the show’s multiple sectors.
