Boasting an exterior by Benoy Architects/BAU and interiors by Windgårdh Architects AB, the Mall of Scandinavia is being built in Solna, Sweden at a cost of SEK3,500 million ($5,281 million).

The design of the mall tries to capture the beauty and splendour of Scandinavia by mingling innovative environment and international flair with classic Scandinavian design. The design seems to incorporate four basic natural elements: earth, water, fire and wind.

To be built over five levels, the mall will encompass an area of 100,000 square metres. The pipeline project will offer 250 stores and several restaurants, and a parking garage to accommodate 4,000 passenger vehicles. It will sit next to the Swedbank Arena and Quality Hotel Arena in Solna.

In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the mall will be highly sustainable and is being targeted for achieve BREEAM Excellent certification. To achieve this goal, the developer has zeroed-in on Kone’s People Flow solutions for the mall. Kone will also deliver and install 33 elevators and 40 escalators at the mall including, 38 KONE TravelMaster escalators, two KONE TravelMaster inclined autowalks, 13 KONE MonoSpace elevators and 20 KONE TranSys service elevators which accommodate roller cages and pallets for efficient restocking.

The mall’s inauguration is scheduled for 2015. Construction on the scheme is being undertaken by Peab AB.
