Designed to fulfill the far-reaching needs of this region, which is so close to the US border, the hospital will feature a clinical wing to facilitate out-patient services, a three-suite surgical wing, and a 40-bed in-patient hospital to provide extended care.

Apart from that the hospital will also serve as a training facility for Haitian medical personnel. Additionally, the base will house an orphanage, secondary school, vocational training centre, worship centre, and demonstration farm to support the needs of this region of 200,000 residents.

This effort has been mobilised by Live Beyond (MMDR) which began as a response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 with immediate delivery of medical aid and supplies to the affected regions. Since the 2010 Haiti earthquake, MMDR has worked extensively near Port-Au-Prince providing medical care, nutritional support, clean water, and micro-finance.
