Post completion, the Kirkcaldy swimming pool and leisure centre will feature 25m six-lane swimming pool with poolside spectating for 90 people; 16.67m x 8m training pool with an underwater movable floor; accessible family wet-side changing facilities; purpose built health suite with sauna and steam room, located near the pool area; and 60-station gym with the latest range of cardiovascular, resistance and free weights equipment.
The centre will also offer a purpose-built aerobics studio, new four-court sports hall, purpose-built children’s play centre with cafe nearby, and a meeting room.
The internal fit-out of the building is currently in progress with the main building envelope now weather tight, and mechanical and electrical services are being installed. Tiling has begun in the changing areas with the leisure and training pools also in the process of being tiled.
Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre is part of the Future of Leisure programme in which the Fife Council is investing £55 million ($83 million). The multi-million pound facility will be managed and operated by Fife Sports & Leisure Trust on behalf of the council.
Pre-opening preparations will be carried out after the completion of the building.
